Police Respond to Weekend Shooting in Monroe, One Injured

MONROE -- On Sunday around 1 p.m., Monroe Police say they were dispatched to the 3700 block of Barlow in reference to a shooting.
Police say 23-year old Justin Jones had shot himself in the upper thigh.
Officers say they spoke with Jones, who stated he wanted to kill himself because of family issues.
Police say a rifle was used to shoot himself in the leg.
He was transported to a local hospital where he was treated for moderate injuries.
Police say charges are pending and the investigation is ongoing. No other persons were injured in this incident.
