UPDATE: Disturbance Leads to Shots Fired in Monroe

March 5 Update:

 The Monroe Police Department continues to investigate the disturbance/shooting that occurred on 03-04-13 at approximately 8:00pm at the Magnolia Park located in the 400 Blk of N.26th St. 

Detectives continue to interview witnesses and victims in this incident but have not been able to develop any suspects at this time. 

The two victims in this incident have been released from an area hospital.

MONROE -- We now have updated information sent to us from Monroe PD on Monday night's disturbance.

Their release reads as follows: "The reported disturbance/shooting has been confirmed to have occurred at Magnolia Park near the 400 blk of of North 24th.  Initial reports have been confirmed that a large crowd was present at the park in numerous vehicles when several gunshots were fired.  Two subjects have been treated at a local hospital, one for a gunshot wound to the arm, and the other with a gunshot wound to the leg.  Both of these subjects are expected to be released shortly and the wounds have been described as minor.  Police are still actively interviewing witnesses and processing the crime scene in an effort to identify any suspects or other victims.  No suspects have been identified as of this time."

PREVIOUS RELEASE:

At approximately 8:00 pm, Monroe Police responded to a disturbance call in the 4200 block of Elm street near Magnolia Park.  

The initial caller indicated that 35 to 40 vehicle were at this location causing a disturbance and that gunshots were fired.  Police responded to this location and the vehicles and all subjects fled the area. 

A short time later, two subjects presented themselves at a local hospital with gunshots wounds that are described as serious at this time.

  Monroe Police Detectives are enroute to the scene and the investigation is ongoing.  There are no suspects at this time. 

The investigation is in its early stages and details will be provided as soon as they become available for release.
