Rep. Tom Cotton Reacts to White House Tour Cancellations

By: Staff
Updated: March 5, 2013
Congressman Tom Cotton (R-Dardanelle) made the following statement today on the White House's decision to cancel all public tours until further notice:

"Today's announcement that White House tours are cancelled is just another version of the tired sequester scare tactics President Obama has employed recently. After he cost taxpayers over $1 million for his recent golf trip to Florida, I find it difficult to believe the elimination of public tours was the only option the White House had when faced with budget cuts.

"Each year, hundreds of thousands of Americans visit Washington, D.C. to see our nation's capital firsthand. I regret that my fellow Arkansans will no longer be permitted to see the former home of great American presidents like Ronald Reagan and Abraham Lincoln. The United States Capitol and the people's House remain open to visitors and I invite all Arkansans to contact my office for a personal tour led by one of my staff members."
