After 44 years, the Morehouse Parish School District is free from its federal desegregation order.
Federal Judge Robert James granted the district total unitary status.
George Noflin, Morehouse Parish School Superintendent, made the announcement at Thursday's school board meeting.
Noflin says the total unitary status frees the school board up to make changes they deem are necessary for the district and not get approval from the Department of Justice.
