Kenny Dortch is charged with 7 counts of animal cruelty, this after deputies say they found some dead animals on his property.
An investigator says at the home, he noticed a hog laying down on the ground with another hog in a neighboring enclosure, eating its ear through the fence. The deputy says the injured hog was still alive and was in such poor health it could not stand. That animal was put down.
Authorities say there was another hog at the residence with rotting flesh.
In another enclosure, authorities say they witnessed 2 dead, decomposed hogs, which had drowned.
Also on the grounds at Hanchey Road, investigators say they found some rabbit cages which included three deceased rabbits in the pens that had died of dehydration. there was no food or water in the enclosure.
Horses were also on the grounds, deputies say they had no food, though they did by the time this picture was taken.
The sheriff says after a veterinarian examined all animals at the home, they were all deemed to be in poor condition and seized by the parish and now in custody.
In all, 4 horses, 8 hogs and 17 dogs were seized. Dortch bonded out and is awaiting a court hearing.
