Governor Bobby Jindal Appoints Vidalia Man to Louisiana Soybean and Grain Research and Promotion Board

BATON ROUGE - On Friday, Governor Bobby Jindal announced the appointment of Thomas Ater to the Louisiana Soybean and Grain Research and Promotion Board.
 
The Louisiana Soybean and Grain Research and Promotion Board provides funding for research projects that help analyze trends in the industry and assist in marketing for the grain industry.
 
The board is comprised of twelve members appointed by the governor and subject to Senate confirmation. Eight members are practical producers of soybeans and are nominated by the Louisiana Farm Bureau Federation, Inc. and the Louisiana Soybean Association. Four members are practical producers of wheat, corn, or grain sorghum and are nominated by the Louisiana Farm Bureau Federation, Inc. and the Louisiana Cotton and Grain Association.
 
Thomas Ater, of Vidalia, is the Manager of Lakeland Planting Company. Ater will be appointed to serve as a soybean producer, nominated the Louisiana Farm Bureau Federation, Inc., as required by statute.
