Homer Police Chief Files Another Lawsuit Against Town

HOMER, LA -- After battling the town of Homer in court to keep its police force, Homer Police Chief Russell Mills is not done yet.
On Friday afternoon, Mills filed another lawsuit against the town.
According to Mills' lawyer Pamela Breedlove, Mills wants the courts to void the town's council's vote to amend the town charter to essentially eliminate term limits for the mayor and council.
The vote took place Feb. 11, during the same special meeting the council voted to disband the police department.
Mills' lawsuit alleges the vote violates the open meetings law and state law regarding amending a town charter.
No court date has been set yet.
