MONROE -- A new Recognized Student Organization at the University of Louisiana at Monroe brings the sport of lacrosse to the ULM student body. The ULM Lacrosse Club provides interested students with opportunities to compete against other lacrosse teams in the area.
"We started the club because lacrosse is the fastest growing sport in the U.S.," said club spokesperson Kelsi Guidry. "...We wanted to start a ULM club to get things going in our area."
All ULM students are invited to join the ULM Lacrosse Club and participate in practices held during the spring semester at Bayou Park. Currently, the club has 13 student members and eight non-student members who participate in practice or play on the team. For the time being, only men over the age of 18 can compete in matches, but all students can participate in practices. The club hopes to field a women's team in the future.
The ULM Lacrosse Club is affiliated with the Gulf Coast Lacrosse Association, which includes both collegiate and post-collegiate all-male teams. For more information about GCLA, visit http://gulfcoastlax.angelfire.com/index/
