Monroe Police Work Large Fight, Investigating Gunshots Fired

MONROE -- Monroe police worked a large fight within a huge crowd on Friday.
It happened on the 2900 block of Desoto.
Police say initial reports indicate that the crowd began fighting inside the building and gunshots were alleged to have been fired.
Officers arrived and found an extremely large group of people present, many of which were later found to be juveniles.
While dispersing the crowd, gunshots were fired from within the crowd and assistance was summoned from OPSO to help disperse the large group.
Investigation showed no injuries were sustained by anyone from the gunfire. One person was treated at a local hospital for an injury he sustained from being struck by a chair inside the building.
No persons were arrested during this incident and the investigation is ongoing as to who discharged the firearms.
