MONROE -- Folks decked out their bikes and trikes in the first annual St. Patty's Bicycle and Tricycle Parade.
Sponsored by Fit Right And Love Your Community -- the parade of bikes, wagons, and even scooters rolled along Sycamore Street at Forsythe Park in Monroe Saturday afternoon.
Dozens of families decorated bikes with beads, streamers, leprechauns and shamrocks. The little ones enjoyed face painting and even green lemonade!
Organizers say this is the first in a series of events, aimed to promote community pride in Ouachita Parish.
"We saw the need for people in the community to come together and really celebrate all the wonderful things that we have in here in Northeast Louisiana," said Sarah Hoffman
with Love Your Community. "We want not only people that already live here and get to celebrate those things, but maybe people that are coming in and relocating as well."
The parade was followed by a 5K and 8K road race on site. Organizers say they hope this event can be an annual traditions.
