EL DORADO -- Around 70 Salvation Army volunteers handed out paper bag lunches to kids throughout El Dorado.
The Salvation Army says since it's spring break, kids may be home alone while their parents are working and not getting lunch.
The Salvation Army started handing out the lunches on Sunday and have been handing out a little over 1,000 lunches a day in Ouachita and Union Counties during the break.
Salvation Army officials have been pleased with the turnout.
"The response has been overwhelming. We've had over 70 volunteers help us actually get the meals together. We've had very generous donations," said Nakisha Carr with the Salvation Army.
By the end of the week, the Salvation Army says they will have served 6,000 meals.
