16 of a total of 24 people mostly out of Waldo were arrested this morning for drug trafficking methamphetamine in Magnolia, Waldo, and Texas. Authorities are calling it "Operation Crystal Clear."

"I think it's worth saying that this is an issue that cuts to the hearts of our communities in this district, in South Arkansas."

Law enforcement agencies from across South Arkansas gathered in Magnolia to say that 24 suspected drug dealers are now off the streets after breaking up a massive drug operation.
10 of the suspects are facing federal charges and the rest state charges.

"This is clearly a major operation in South Arkansas and I want to thank all of the members of law enforcement

During their operation, police were able to seize 3 pounds of meth, several cars, 5 firearms, and $150,000 in cash and prosecutors say the operation went smoothly.

"They made almost all of the arrests they hoped to make, they searched all the residences, and places that they wanted to search so I would say it's been an absolutely phenomenal success."

With the fight against drugs and drug dealers ongoing, prosecutors are hoping that this recent effort will put a little dent in the illegal activity.

"I think it's going to make a big difference for hopefully 6 months to a year. Give us a chance to catch our breath and make sure we do the things that don't make it favorable for them to come back."

"6 of the suspects involved in this case will make their first court appearance Friday morning at the Columbia County Jail. Prosecutors say that this case is still ongoing with a possibility of up to 7 more arrests.
