MPD to Conduct Safety/DWI Checkpoint Today

The Monroe Police Department will be conducting a Safety/DWI checkpoint in the vicinity of Louisville Avenue today.
This checkpoint will focus on removing unsafe and impaired drivers from the public highway and promoting the use of safety belts and unimpaired driving.
These checkpoints are conducted in association with the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
The safety checkpoints are advertised to comply with statutes that require police agencies announce these enforcement details to the public.
