Lawyers for two former Monroe City Councilmen are asking for their upcoming trial date to be pushed back.
The trial is now set for April 22 in Shreveport.
Arthur Gilmore and Robert "Red" Stevens were convicted of racketeering and bribery in May 2011.
They say they're still waiting for a hearing to be set on a motion request by federal prosecutors and say they won't have time to prepare for that hearing as well as the trial.
One of the lawyers is also asking for delay due to an upcoming murder trial in East Carroll Parish.

They ask for a new trial but aren't prepared for it. Maybe they don't need a new trial. They should just go ahead and do the time the judge gave them, simple as that.
