FEMA in Franklin Parish

By: Rudy Williams
Updated: October 1, 2008
The Federal Emergency Management Agency could not have come fast enough for Franklin Parish. The mess left by flood waters after Hurricane Gustav left residents to rebuild their lives. Troy Davis and his wife had just brought home newborn twins. The family was fleeing knee deep water in their home 2 days later. They are just one of hundreds who have registered for financial assistance. FEMA intends to help everyone. They say they’ll make adjustments if they can’t. Additionally, the small business administration came along to offer additional help to residents. They are prepared to provide long term low interest loans to home-owners, renters, non-profits & businesses of all sizes. Thats just what Davis needs to hear. He showed us the damage in his house. The Davis family hopes FEMA will help to the max. Troy Davis says, "We hope they can help us rebuild the walls and everything."
