A Jonesboro lawyer has put his name on the ticket for the 2nd district attorneys race.
But before he tackles that fight -- he has to resolve the one with his ex-wife.
After allegations of domestic abuse land him in court today.
Chris Bowman wants to be the next district attorney for Bienville, Jackson and Lincoln Parish.
But an allegation by his ex-wife -- that Bowman violently pushed her against a door -- is threatening to cast a shadow on his run for DA.
The altercation, which happened back in October 2004, allegedly began as a fight over who would get custody of their three children.
And in the case, Bowmans own daughter is testifying against him.
As Bowman prepares to run for 2nd district attorney, first he must deal with the simple battery charge -- that landed him in jail in 2004.
His ex-wife alleges bowman slammed her against a door, after his daughter refused to go with him.
Bowman denies the domestic abuse charge, and says he still plans to run for DA.
A judge is expected to give his verdict on July 22.
but even if Bowman is convicted, it wont affect his ability to run for DA.
