Bank officials say what happened at a Monroe Community Trust Bank this morning may be a sign that folks are becoming desperate, as we head deeper into a recession. Police say a man became violent and threw a bank employee to the ground, when she wouldn't cash his forged check.

At around 9 am this morning, a Community Trust Bank employee believes Sylvester Robinson, was trying to cash a fraudulent check. When the female employee wouldn't give the check back, bank officials say Robinson put up quite a fight: "He became violent and attempted to get the check push our employee threw her down and ultimately left the building," said Lonnie Scarborough, Community Trust Bank Vice President.

Scarborough says because the economy is so bad -- more checks are being forged. And more counterfeiting money is filtering into banks, like Community Trust. Robinson, the man who allegedly got into a fight with the bank employee is facing simple battery and forgery charges.
