Monroe City Police say they responded Friday night about 10:30 p.m. to Kennedy and Marshall Dr. in reference to shots fired. Police say a woman was struck. The victim is an unidentified 22 year old Monroe woman. Police say she was driving home from a South Monroe store and was between the King Oaks and Robinson court neighborhoods Police say the victim pulled up to a stop sign at the corner of Marshall and Kennedy. That is where she was approached by a man with a riffle who ordered her out of her car. Instead, she sped off and went home. That is where she realized she had been shot. The woman then proceeded on to her residence. After she arrived there, family members took her to the hospital. She was treated at LSU-Conway Hospital and released. Police say the woman recalled seeing 2 men standing at the corner, but it was a third armed and masked man who approached her car. While there have been burglaries and shootings near the area in the past, police say theyve never seen anything like this.
