There may be a buyer for the Pilgrims Pride plant in Farmerville. Governor Bobby Jindals office confirms to NBC 10 News that there is a multi-million offer on the table.
Late this evening NBC 10 News received word that a possible deal to buy the Pilgrims Pride Farmerville operation is in the works. Governor Bobby Jindals office confirms that an unidentified company may make an offer to buy the plant as early as Tuesday night.
The offer calls for the buyer to put up $20 million with the state matching that for a total offer of $40 million -- *if* the buyer will agree to keep the work force intact. Thats good news for Union Parish. The closure of the plant will cause almost 1,400 people to lose their jobs and affect over 150 chicken growers.
