There was a neighborhood Easter egg hunt and cook out Saturday on Adams street in Pioneer.   Neighbors say everyone was eating, drinking and playing games when all of a sudden, the tide changed. Police say Larry Pritchard and Prentice Thompson lived in this house. During the cook out, they started fighting.

West Carroll Parish Sheriff, Jerry Philley said, "Alcohol was involved and the altercation was over a beer."

That's when things started to escalate.  Neighbors say they heard a scream and when they turned they saw a man in the back yard fighting for his life.  Authorities say that man was Larry Pritchard.

Philley said, "He was stabbed in the neck in the left side of the neck."

That's when a neighbor called 911, but by that time, it was too late.  Larry Pritchard was pronounced dead at the hospital.  Now his brother-in-law, 57 year old Prentice Thompson is being charged with second degree murder.
