There may be a glimmer of hope for the 800 workers set to lose their jobs next month at the pilgrim's pride plant in El Dorado. Today, Arkansas Governor Mike Beebe announced that there is an offer to buy the plant. And for the first time, the state is promising big money to help.

An offer was put very quietly on the table by a group of entrepreneurs. The governor won't say who they are or even where they're from. But the even bigger question is, will Pilgrim's Pride accept their offer? Over the last several weeks, Governor Mike Beebe says a small group business people has made an offer to buy up the plant in El Dorado.

The plant is set to shut its doors in Mid-May -- which means 800 workers will soon be out of a job. but the governor says Pilgrim's Pride wants a lot more money for the plant than the business group has offered. So he's promising state money to help the deal go through. The governor says Arkansas will pay for more than half the offer...if it's ever accepted. That's similar to the deal the state of Louisiana made to save the Pilgrim's Pride Plant in Farmerville.
