This is where the home town hero works.  In the small town of Archibald.  But, hundreds of miles away and thousands of feet in the air is where the event he'll never forget took place.  Doug White owns a King Air 200 plane, a double engine air craft. He's only licensed to fly single engine planes like this one.  He called his friend Joe Cabuk to pick him up with his family in Florida.

White said,  "Joe is a pilot, a husband, father, grandfather, Christian and pro."

They boarded the plane and took off.

White said "We were at 6 or 7 thousand feet when he suddenly died"

So White had to act quickly.

He said, "I only knew how to talk on the radio so I called Miami air center and said I'm declaring an emergency, I need some one who knows how to fly a King Air 200, my pilot is deceased."

That's when White had to pull a miracle.

He said, "I turned around and told my wife and 2 daughters I love them and to start praying, I have something I have to do.''

White says air traffic control coached him all the way to the run way.
