The fire broke out on 600 Ledell street at around 10 o'clock this morning.  A mother and two- two year old babies were inside sleeping when the smoke woke her up. She leaped up and ran outside for help.

Justin Cooper said, "I heard some girls running out saying there's a fire so I look over, I ran over me and my friend too."

Justin Cooper and Kentuka Flintroy jumped into action.

Flintroy said, "First we went in the front door but it was too smoky."

Cooper said, "We ran in the house, we couldn't see anything."

Cooper and Flintroy kicked in the air conditioning unit in the window and knocked over the dresser to get into the house.

Cooper said, "I couldn't see her still so I just tried to just feel my way through and I grabbed her arm and I had my whole body in the house at that time and I grabbed her and pulled her out and passed her to him."

Firefighters say it was only a matter of minutes until the child could have died. They're calling the two guys heroes. But, the heroes don't see it that way.
