Sterlington Assistant Chief: No Felony Charge

A grand jury has ruled that Sterlington's assistant police chief did not commit a felony. Last year, Assistant Police Chief Vince Hodnett was leasing a house on Horseshoe Lake Road from Jean McMillon. McMillon came forward and accused the assistant chief of forging her signature. Investigators had believed Hodnett forged the signature so the house he was renting would be annexed into Sterlington. Sources say that would have allowed Hodnett to take his cop car home and basically police from his house.
If indicted, Hodnett would have been charged with injuring public records -- which is a felony. But with a clearance today from a grand jury, Vince Hodnett will stay on the job as Sterlington's Assistant Chief.
