Police are looking for the driver of the truck that caused the car to crash. Not only did the driver of that truck take-off down the road, he took a young life.
"I couldnt go back to sleep,” said Harry Haynes, who towed the car from the scene. “To see a little child...7 years old in a body bag…"
This mirror and tire tracks are all that remain at the site of the fatal crash that took the life of a 7 year old girl last night. But the memory of a small lifeless body remains on the mind of Harry Haynes.
"It tore me up pretty bad,” continued Haynes. “I stayed up til 4:30."
Police say the crash took place around 10 oclock. They say the car the young girl was traveling in with family members was run of the road by a white eighteen wheeler. According to police the car ended up in the median, as the truck kept going and never stopped.
Haynes said that the small lifeless body was lying 7 feet from the overturned car. It is a memory he may always have.
The 3 other family members in the car are still alive.
"Me, my niece and my sister; we had on our seat-belts,” said Jerika Archie, the driver of the car. “Me and my sister were caught in the car. We had to get ourselves out."
Archie says the only person without a seatbelt on in the car was a 4th passenger, her mother. She was also thrown from the car and is in critical condition.
