Shelbi Wingfield has had a cancerous brain tumor since she was 5 years old. She's 11 now and her mom says despite the nearly 100 chemotherapy treatments Shelbi has had, she's still your average kid.
Wingfield said, "I don't think there are any limitations on Shelbi, if you know her the sky is the limit."
Like her mom said, there isn't anything Shelbi doesn't do. She's a star on her softball team, she loves the beach and having sleep overs with her friends. But, as you can imagine having a cancerous brain tumor is expensive and it has certainly taken its tole.
Wingfield said, "I was missing a lot of work and my pay check was getting effected and we were really struggling and starting to get behind financially on our house note and other bills."
Emily describes the Shake for Jake foundation as a life saver. She says if it weren't for the generosity of the North Louisiana community she's not sure how she would have made it.
Wingfield said, "It means the world to us to know there are people out there like them who are taking blessings of having this money instead of using it for their own personal gain , using it to help others."
For Shelbi and her mom, being apart of the Shake for Jake foundation every year is proof that they're winning their fight against cancer.
Wingfield said, "We've been battling pediatric cancer for 6 years and you know every year is another milestone for us so each year this is like an anniversary for us to come out and say we've made it another year."
