The heat isn't making things better for neighbors dealing with a foul odor coming from a sewer near their homes. Residents of the Tanglewood neighborhood have faced everything from flooding to backed-up water as a result of the sewage system right next to it. Some residents of Tanglewood say the odor from the sewage pool has held them hostage in their homes for the last 2 weeks. But, these residents say they've never experienced this before.
"It's like this here,” said Anthony Sherman. “We really can't sit outside. The kids can't come out to play because of the smell."
Anthony’s wife, Nancy, says she knows people who have had to go to the hospital because of the quality of the water. She says her toilet doesn’t flush properly and her tub is stopped up. Nancy says she can’t live with that.
"It gets worse during the evening as the sun goes down,” said Nancy Sherman. “And when the wind blows, it goes."
The Sherman's say they pay on average $50 per month for their water. Nancy says she can't do anything with the water but wash. She says she's even afraid to do that.
