As temperatures today hit highs just one degree short of records, many in the Ark-La-Miss cranked car and indoor air conditioners to the max. But, imagine not having either. For some homeless living in the Ark-La-Miss it's reality.

Sam Magee has no air conditioning. In fact, he has no home at all. You could call this his living room at least 4 days a week because he does have a part time job, but it's just not enough to make ends meet--let alone have a place of his own.

"You gotta set around in a spot like I'm sitting now to kind of stay cool because it be so hot around here, man," said Sam Magee. "People used to bring you drinks under here. Like cold water, bottled water. They used to bring it under here but it don't happen no more."

But people like James Traylor are doing what they can for people like Sam.

"We have a lot of people come in from the police station or the Salvation Army, this, that and the other,” said James Traylor, owner of The Kitchen Restaurant. We have lots of people comes in and wanna know could we get a glass of water, get a glass of ice-water. And we do that and do it gladly."

Traylor says he's helped the community at his restaurant for 30 years and that includes the homeless. It's something he says he's happy to do.
