Tempers flared today between Richwood's mayor and his own aldermen.
All five Richwood aldermen say they are now reporting the mayor and town clerk to the district attorney's office.
The reason? They say the mayor is putting the town's bank account in danger.
Richwood Mayor Steve Hunter says he knew something was coming...but had no idea his own aldermen would accuse him of malfeasance in office, which is basically unlawful conduct. But he says it's nothing new, because the town aldermen have been on a witch hunt, since the first day he stepped into office.
In a town meeting kept secret until the last moment -- Richwood's aldermen say they've had enough. They say the mayor and town clerk are signing checks from the town's bank account and not consulting them.
But the mayor insists he hasn't done anything wrong. he says the town's finances are an open book, that anyone can look at, at anytime. The aldermen plan on submitting their complaint to 4th District Attorney Jerry Jones today.
