Neighbors Say Dark Brown Water Is Making Them Sick

More than 30 neighbors in Mer Rouge gathered today saying they've had enough.
Their water is some of the worst we've seen here at NBC 10.
The Bayou Bonne Idee Water Company admits -- its water is filled with rust and magnesium...turning it the color of iced tea. While some Mer Rouge residents are poking fun of their water...they say its no laughing matter.
For months, residents say their water goes from clear to dark brown. Neighbors say their water problems have been going on for at least 13 years. And they believe one by one, the water has been making them sick.
The president of the Bayou Bonne Idee Water Company says the health department says the water is safe to drink. But he's on this water system himself...and admits some days even he won't drink the water. He hopes the problem will be fixed in about a week with the help of new filters.
