Former Ruichwood Mayor Charged with Malfeasance

Today, the 4th Judicial District Attorney filed a bill of information charging former Richwood Mayor Edward Harris with one count of malfeasance in office. The charge comes at the conclusion of a La. State Police investigation regarding the handling of finances by the former mayor at the end of his term.

Judge Carl Sharp issued a warrant for Mr. Harris setting his bond at $5,000.00. Mr. Harris is expected to surrender himself today at Ouachita Parish Correctional Center. Malfeasance in Office provides for imprisonment with or without hard labor up to 5 years and a fine of up to $5,000.00.
