
Governor Bobby Jindal came to Richland Parish today for a sweet announcement. That's because a fortune 500 company will build the world's largest sweet potato plant there. Governor Jindal arrived in Delhi today to announce that Conagra plans to build the largest sweet potato processing plant in the world. The plant will mainly put out frozen sweet potato fries, and whatever else their lab can think of. In return the region will get 275 new workers. Conagra hopes by fall of 2010 when the plant opens, the number of jobs will skyrocket to 500. Once operational the plant will become one of the largest employers in the region. The governor also says as many as two thousand other jobs will indirectly result from the new plant. Jindal also stressed that these jobs pay very well. workers will see salaries in the $35,000 range.
