LSU Conway Medical Police Officer Hit by Car

Kila Smith 's mother says her daughter became a police officer because she loves to help people.
Linda Jordan said, "Oh she loves her job she just loves it."
Saturday night smith was working at E.A. Conway Medical Center when she got called to check on a suspiciuos person. When she went to check the suspects ID, he took off running. Her mother says there was only one thing on her daughters mind.
Jordan said, "All she wanted to do was catch the bad guys. That's all she wanted to do was catch him. Once the adrenaline kicked in nothing else mattered."
Twenty-four year-old Smith went running after him. The victim's mother says her daughter was chasing the suspect from a hospital parking lot across the street. That's when he ran through these trees. She says she stopped, called for backup and was hit by a car. T
he driver who hit Smith is a hospital employee and won't face any charges for the accident. Smith was taken to Conway Medical Center for treatment. Her mother says she has a large gauge on her right leg where she was hit. She also says despite excruciating pain, her daughter is holding up well.
"When she's awake, she's in good spirits. She's talking and laughing. trying to be tough for me of course, but she's ok," Jordan said.
