Deadly Crash on I-20 Involving 18-Wheeler

Police say the passenger, 19-year-old Cody Mardis of Grayson, was killed and the driver, 17-year-old Kassey Mauldin of Columbia, was seriously hurt in a accident involving an 18 wheeler on Interstate 20. The accident happened on the westbound lane of I-20 near Pecanland Mall around 6 p.m. Tuesday evening.

Police say Mauldin was driving a Ford Taurus traveling east on I-20 when she lost control of her car and crossed the median into the westbound lanes of the interstate. That’s where she ran into the back of an 18-wheeler, knocking its back wheels off.

Police say Mauldin is in serious condition at LSU-S.
