Louisiana Highway 821 has driven some residents living along the road to frustration. Tuesday night they took that emotion to state officials in a town hall meeting. Highway 821 is scattered with signs of frustration of residents along this road. That’s all because more than 65 percent of the highway was resurfaced.
The remaining stretch between LA 820 and LA 145 hasnt been repaired since 1987. Thats when John Kelly of the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development said the highway was only sealed. But he says repairing roads in parts is not an unusual occurrence due to a lack of funds.
But some people attending Tuesdays town hall meeting to demonstrate their disappointment over the half paved road arent buying it.
Concerned citizen Jim Possey says hes worked on several projects with the DOTD before. He says hes never seen a project that didnt stop at roads end or a boundary line.
Almost a hundred people showed up to express their dissatisfaction over road officials decision to halt road repairs just 3 miles short of the highways end.
