Unsolved Burglaries Anger Ruston Residents

Damita McNeal has lived in this home for forty years.
She says she never had a problem, until recently.
McNeal said, "I came in and cake was missing, then I went to the refrigerator and they had stolen a whole half gallon of orange juice."
On August 25th, while McNeal went to class, burglars ransacked her home. They stole her husbands laptop, their Blu-Ray player and her late mother's wedding rings.
"I would like to have those back. They're the only tangible things I have left from my mother," McNeal said.
Altogether she says they got away with items worth thousands of dollars. Ruston police haven't made an arrest, but McNeal has her own theory. McNeal says she thinks someone hopped over this fence, took one of her husbands tools from the shed, took this screen off of her window and broke into her home.
For the first time in 40 years, she's getting an alarm system....and she's not alone. Helen Harris lives down the street and she says she just got an alarm after someone broke into her home six months ago.
Helen Harris said, "They went in, got my change, a VCR player, took the trash and threw it in the middle of the bed."
Harris says other homes on her street have also been burglarized recently. She and McNeal say they're dissatisfied with the way police investigated the burglaries.
Harris said, "They didn't even fingerprint or check or nothing. He come in and looked and he left. That's all"
McNeal said, "There were tools out there I thought he should have fingerprinted but he told me this is not CSI. That we watch too much CSI."
