A Winnsboro man is
dead after police say three men beat him to death.
Police say the men stole money from Ricky Ferrington and left him to die in the street.
"He did some horse training. just a very, very talented
young man, got off on the wrong track a time or two, but still deep down was a
good guy," said friend Noble Ellington.
Forty-six year old Ricky Ferrington is who family and
friends refer to as friendly, hardly a man anyone would want to murder.
"It was really a shock because I saw him about 7
o'clock or so Saturday evening," said Ellington.
Sunday morning, police say Ferrington left Johnny's Lounge
in Winnsboro on foot.
Police say Ricky Ferrington was walking down
In the struggle, the
men stole 15 dollars from Ferrington.
Police arrested 20
year old Rashad Bingham, 21 year old Edward White and a 14 year old man for
first degree murder and robbery.
Robert Ignont knows the accused men and lives in the neighborhood where the murder happened.
He says he's shocked
such a thing could happen.
"Normally this is a pretty safe area and normally the
city and town is a safe area and for something like this to happen is really
out of the ordinary. You have your normal activity, your drugs, stuff like
that, but something of this magnitude is highly unusual," said Ignont.
Police are still unsure of motive, but say a tip led to the arrest of the three accused suspects.
