Mayor Martha Andrus' criminal arraignment hearing was scheduled for this morning at the Ruston courthouse. But the district attorney prosecuting Mayor Andrus, removed himself and his assistants from the case.

In a recusal letter to the Attorney General's office, Lincoln parish district attorney Robert Levy removed himself and his associates from the case. He wrote that it's possible one of them may be called as a witness. So her case is being pushed once back again.

City council member Edward Jones says he thinks moving her case out of the parish will help move things along.

Edward Jones said, "We were hoping that the criminal case would go very swiftly, because every day that it doesn't the municipal work is going undone. We understand that the wheels of justice turn slowly, so we'll just have to be patient."

The attorney general's office appointed Concordia Parish District attorney Brad Burget to handle the case. City employees say Mayor Andrus was at work today. She refuses to step down despite pending criminal and civil cases.
