Service crews are getting to work. It's the sound of progress people in the town of Ferriday have been waiting for. Plant Operator Robert O'steen says the men got to work this morning.

O'steen said, "Right now they're doing some work back here on your high service pumps that sends the water to town and right now we need at least 2 of those working."

Plant operator Robert O'steen says having two pumps will help push water into town faster. That means if a fire breaks out there will be enough pressure to put the fire out. He also says 2 new back wash draining pumps are being installed.

O'steen said, "If I can backwash, it helps to clean the filter then you won't see such bad water."

That means the water won't be so brown with so much loose sediment all the time. O'steen says the way to insure the water stays clean is by getting an above ground storage tank. That's something he says is in the works.

O'steen said, "I have talked to about 3 or 4 contractors that came in and placed some bids on building the tank."
