Antioch in Union Parish is one of the areas hardest hit by a powerful storm that swept through the area late this morning.  Trees are down across the community; at least one home is destroyed.  The Department of Wildlife and Fisheries is reporting a tornado in that area, but that has not been confirmed by the National Weather Service.

Power was knocked out in downtown Monroe for at least two hours.  KTVE/KARD also lost power, as did the Opus Broadcasting radio stations.

A large tree smashed through a classroom window at Central Elementary School in Calhoun; no one was injured, but school let out early.

Widespread damage is reported east of Farmerville near Rocky Branch.  Trees down across roads are making it difficult for crews to reach all areas that may need clean-up.

Power was knocked out in Junction City, with heavy wind damage, including several trees simply snapped in half.  The roof of a middle school in El Dorado was damaged, and heavy trees were also blocking roadways in that area.

NBC 10 News and Fox 14 have news crews deployed throughout the area surveying damage.  Stay tuned to NBC 10 News and Fox 14 for news updates throughout the afternoon, and full team coverage starting with NBC 10 News at 5:00 and 6:00.
