Union Parish Weather Damage
In
Union Parish at least three thousand people are without power this evening.
Some
are even homeless after powerful storms swept through.

In
Union Parish at least three thousand people are without power this evening.
Some
are even homeless after powerful storms swept through.
There's
no confirmation of a tornado in Union Parish yet.
But
that's exactly what people in
There
is no word Friday evening on when the power will be restored in Union Parish.
As
far as the damage, folks in the community of
The
sheriff says at least 20 homes were damaged and some people were even trapped
for a short time.
Luckily - only one minor injury has been reported.
Trees,
power lines and anything that was in the air sits on the ground or even in
houses throughout Union Parish.
Friday
morning what Union Parish Sheriff Bob Buckley calls a tornado ripped through
the parish.
"Caused
a lot of damage to structures, we had some people trapped in homes, lot of
damage, a lot of trees down," said Buckley.
And most
of that damage happened in
Wildlife
and Fisheries confirmed a tornado, but the National Weather Service could not
confirm it was a tornado.
Still
several people in union parish are reporting severe damage to homes and cars.
Here
two trees smashed this home.
"It's
probably going to be about 15 to 20 right in this area, from minor to major,
major damage, we have a fire marshal here checking the structures, there are
some that are habitable there some that are not," said Buckley
And
despite the devastation, Buckley says cleanup is now underway.
"And
luckily we've only had one minor injury where a young man was driving down the
road and a tree fell and hit his vehicle," said Buckley
Buckley
says Union Deputies will be on hand all night to keep homes that were damaged
from looters.
He encourages people to not return to homes until Union Parish authorities’ give the go ahead.
