Lake D’Arbonne is on the rise after all the rain we've had in the Ark-La-Miss lately.

Some roads in Union Parish are already flooded.

The Lake D’Arbonne waterway commission says the lake is at flood stage of 83 feet and it's still rising.

This has some getting nervous in Union Parish as water washes up roads and yards.

They just hope the rain stops soon.

"It's scary. Like I say, I've been here seven years and I've seen it every year, but this is the worst year it's been," said Lake D’Arbonne resident Clyde Owens.

Clyde Owens is waiting and wading through the water near his home on Lake D’Arbonne.

He says this is the third time this year the waters have paid him a visit.

"I worry about my neighbors on up the road. They're in danger of flooding, I'm not but it’s the aggravation I have to go through," said Owens.

Some residents say the water on Lake D’Arbonne ended here Monday morning. This is the water level Monday evening; water is all down Pleasure Island Road.

"I could walk down the road and not get my feet wet wearing low quarter shoes and now you notice I’ve got boots on,” said Owens

Three of four flood gates are letting water out on Lake D’Arbonne's spillway.

The Bayou D’Arbonne Lake Watershed District Commission says the other flood gate is scheduled to be fixed, but the water is too high.

In 2008 the State legislature approved more flood gates to be built on the spillway.

That would double the capacity of water going out.

"If they'll go ahead and build the new system I won't have the water on the road. I could come out my driveway and I won't have to worry about wading water and driving through water.  I haven't had mail in over a week."

But the commission says the project still needs approval from the state's bond commission.

And as the water continues to rise, Owens hopes the rain stops sooner than rather than later

"There's nothing I can do, but sit back and pray that it doesn't get any higher,” said Owens.

Monday night, commission member Jack Rivers says he does not know when the project will go before the state bond commission.
