Monroe School Board Discipline: No Decision

City School Board was supposed to tackle disciplinary issues with a staff
member Tuesday.

the end the board decided not to decide.
The
Monroe School Board opened to discuss tough issues.
One
item even called for a removal of Janet Davis as Principal of Lincoln Elementary
School.
And
that caused chaos to break out before an agenda was even approved.
Board
member Rodney McFarland asked for the item to be moved to a special meeting.
"We
need to be assured that no business will take place on this matter without the
full board," said McFarland.
The outbreak
caused board president Brenda Shelling to call for members to come together.
"I
can promise as chair of this board meeting today that we will be above board,
credible and honorable," said Shelling.
But
that didn't stop board members like Jessie Handy questioning if the board could
indeed move forward with a removal.
"We
want to be honest and fair about it and that's why I ask for number 13 to be
pulled," said Handy
Still
a majority agreed to discuss the matter in executive session.
But
after the session lasted over an hour...the board voted to kill the item
entirely.
In
essence the board decided not to do anything.
Shelling
would not comment on what misconduct
Board
attorney Doug Lawrence also gave no reasoning.

are certain items I cannot publicly discuss," said

Principal Janet Davis will be introduced at any future meetings.
