A round of applause for the news governor Bobby Jindal is bringing to Northeast Louisiana.
Governor Bobby Jindal said, "That's 350 great paying new jobs right here in Louisiana."
Telecommunications company CenturyLink is expanding in Louisiana.
CenturyLink CEOGlen Post said, "We feel good about the announcement made today, we feel good about the merger with Embarq and the growth we're experiencing here and we think we're well positioned for the future."
CenturyLink is one of three Fortune 500 companies in the state. CenturyLink was named CenturyTel, until July. That's when the company merged with communications provider Embarq. The merger opened the possibility the company might move out of state and take jobs with it.
Deidre Akers said, "I think its a wonderful thing for security's sake. When you come in tomorrow you know you're going to have a job. I think that's wonderful we're able to bring more jobs to the area in our company."
The state is giving CenturyLink up to five million dollars over the next four years to pay for costs associated with the new jobs. Governor Jindal says Centurylink's expansion-- along with recent moves by Foster Farms, Gardner Denver, V-Vehicle and ConAgra-- prove that things are looking up for northeast Louisiana.
Governor Jindal said, "It's been a great year, but we're just getting started."
