Captain Paulette Marvels of the Salvation Army said, “Thing are not always normal for everybody. Just for one child to smile and know they are going to be able to have Christmas, really makes a difference.”
This year more than 670 angels are hanging on tress around Union County. And Captain Paulette Marvels of the Salvation Army says of those, only 150 have been taken.
And this year they are making it easier to adopt--- the Salvation Army has teamed up with JCPenney to list the angels online.
“People want to be able to help but also at this busy time they don’t have the time to. To be able to shop online for those particular kids is really a blessing for them as well.”
You can even shop online and ship the toys straight to the Salvation Army—that way you never have to leave the house.
Another thing the Salvation Army is doing is a forgotten angel tree.
“We set up a generic tree—generic for a boy, you know a truck. You know a child’s toy, brought back here placed in our toy shop and at the end of process, with angels not chosen we go to the toy shop and fill angels that way.”
And it’s not too late to adopt an angel. In El Dorado there are two angel trees in Wal-Mart and a forgotten angel tree at Johnny B’s Diner.
Don’t forget—you can also log online to the JCPenney website and adopt from home.
Marvels said, “Our community always comes through for us, they always do!”
