Union County Chief Deputy Clark Burton said, “Based on what we do know, we believe her intentions were to kill him. We did a very thorough check for defense wounds, signs of injury, anything that could have lead us to believe they had been fighting, which we did not find any injuries on her. Deputies say Janice Sawyer called 911 last night and told dispatchers to send the coroner because she believed shed just killed her husband. When deputies got there, they say they found Janice standing out front, cell phone in hand. She was standing at the end of her driveway. Janice told police she stabbed her husband, he was still alive but clinging to life. Burton said, “We found Jackie lying in the living room floor, appeared to be stabbed in his chest, and appeared he lost a lot of blood on his floor.” 62 year old Theo Jackie Sawyer died moments later. Investigators say Janice told them she and her husband had been yelling at each other. So she grabbed a knife—stabbed him twice in the heart and once in the back. “Our records indicate that we have responded to the residence of Jackie and Janice for domestic fights in the past.” Janice is being held at the Union County Jail on charges of first degree murder with no bond.
