Entergy customers are stunned at how much they owe the company on their latest bill. The high cost is not only leaving customers in shock, it is also leaving customers wondering how they will pay. Entergy customers knew this most recent bill would be high, but they were not expecting to double or triple their last bill.
Entergy representative Roderick Worthy blames not only a very cold January, but also blames the rise in natural gas prices.
“Entergy basically goes out on the market and purchases natural gas, coal, or whatever the generator needs to generate electricity, and based upon those market prices. That is what causes the fuel adjustment factor to fluctuate.”
According the Worthy the price jumped in January to 4.5 cents per kilowatt hour. Customers do not have to expect these prices to stick around for long. Entergy estimates next month’s fuel adjustment rate to drop to 3.8 cents.
If you think there may be a mistake on your bill give Entergy a call at 1-800-368-3749. Entergy will send a meter reader to your house to check for mistakes. However, if there is not a mistake then you owe the company. If the amount is too much, Entergy will work with individual customers in order to work out a payment plan.
