There’s been a murder suicide in Start and those involved were newlyweds. Richland Parish authorities say it was the husband who shot his wife and he was a registered sex offender. Richland Parish Sheriff Charles McDonald says murders rarely happen in the community of Start. But yesterday evening at 5:15 32 year-old Christopher Jarmon murdered his wife Tracy Jarmon, then he committed suicide. The grieving family is in shock "You see it happen in the news everywhere, but you think it's never going to happen to you,” said Tracy’s Uncle, Larry Williams. Larry Williams says what happened to his niece, Tracy Jarmon is still just setting in. The Richland Parish Sheriff says Tracy’s 11 year-old-son found his mother and stepfather Christopher Jarmon dead in the bathroom at this house on Crewlake Loop in Start. He says Christopher shot Tracy in the back with a 20 gauge shotgun and then shot himself in the face That’s something Tracy’s family is still trying to figure out. "Didn't know a lot about him, I can't tell you anything about it other than things didn't work out,” said Williams. Williams says the couple had only been married for five months. The sheriff says neighbors claimed the Jarmons had disputes, but nothing really serious. Williams says his niece was accomplished with a master’s degree in occupational therapy. "She could have worked anywhere, but she chose to work at old folks homes working with the elderly, I'm sure those people there are not going to be able to replace her,” said Williams. The Jarmons didn’t have any children together. But Williams says Tracy was a dedicated mother to an 11 year-old-boy and a 16 year-old girl. "Her and her daughter just got back from a concert in Memphis, Memphis in May,” said Williams. Deputies say they had not been called to the home for any domestic disputes until this murder suicide; now Tracy’s family is coping with the tragic loss. "We'll get through this as a family, my biggest concern are the children,” said Williams. Christopher Jarmon was a registered sex offender in Richland parish. In 2000, he pled guilty to carnal knowledge of a juvenile in Lincoln Parish.

Chris has a son. My boyfriend is Zach Jarmon, hes 14 years old. Chris loved him, you could tell that. Now, what he did was wrong, but something was wrong that we dont know about. The way Zach talks about his dad would never lead me to believe he'd leave Zach alone in this world. He was'nt a great father but he loved his son.I felt as if they should have mentioned that. And he needed help, hes wasnt a piece of [censored]..he just needed help..both families are coping so show some respect people. R.I.P Chris and Tracy

Do you people actually believe what you are saying…..that this man being a convicted [censored] offender shouldn’t have played into this? Amazing! It is very relevant. The social reality is this was an integral part of who this man was. He needed intense help. Letting him back into society without treatment was like putting the wolf back into the sheep pen. Only this time it was murder. You all are right about one thing….there are two families suffering and they all need prayers. But let me say this. Tracy was one of the sweetest, most kind, caring, intelligent and generous persons that I have ever known. She was a wonderful, amazing mother. She loved life and everyone she met loved her. Whatever happened, Tracy did NOT deserve to die. (Jeremy McNeil…thank you for your post.)

Well Tracy was my ex-sister-in-law and I am sick of people focusing on that piece of [censored] that killed her. I know that his family is hurting but so is ours. It is an unspeakable trajedy and I don't care how unhappy he was in his marriage he did not have the right to shoot her down like an animal. I have known Tracy for 12 years and not once did I see a side of her that would warrant her being KILLED!!!!!!!!! His being a [censored] offender does matter. That just says what type of person he was. The only thing that Tracy was guilty off was being a bad judge of character when picking Chris Jarmon.

Well it's one thing to be a [censored] offender that rapes and hurts people. But that wasn't the case here. To be honest that should not even be a topic here. The sad thing is that two families have lost love ones, and NO one will ever know the reason behind it. We all can think what we wont but there are only two people that know the truth and they are no longer with us.I know that both families wish they could go back in time. We just need to pray for the families that God gives them the strength they need to get through this and STOP bashing the one that is no longer with us.

As the mother of 2 daughters,it saddens me when people come to the defense of [censored] offenders. Until it is their child, sister, aunt, mother, wife who is the victim. Do you say the saem about suicided bombers, terrorist? I am sure that at one point in their life someone has said that they too were a good person and that something terible had to have happne for them to take their own live and that ofanother. The victim of this senseless crime, and her family should be in our prayers.

When any crime has been committed the criminal record of the criminal is always relevant. In this case the criminal is the man that killed his wife. It is obvious that this man was capable of making a friend based off the prior posts, and the fact that he was able to attract his wife and prior victim, but that in no way warrants his defense in this matter, or the insinuation that the victim might have co ntributed in such a way that she deserved to die.

I too know Chris. What did Chris having had pled guilty to [censored] offense have ANYTHING to do with the story at hand? Let us just throw that little piece in the news to make him look like he was evil because it is SO news worthy!! Right?? GEEZ! Unfortunately, I have all but quit watching most news at all because of the half stories, half truths and the mockery of what our news stations actually call news! If you are going to go with a story...get and give all the facts...Chris...great guy! Unhappy situation! But, nobody knows what was going on in that marriage or in that home that day! It gave him NO right to take a life! But,I'm sure that both will be greatly missed by their loved ones and friends! The family and friends need prayers and love and also respect of their privacy!

I have known Chris for over 15 years and I know something bad must have happened to cause this. Im not saying what he did is ok but this was not normal behavior for him at all. As far as the [censored] offender charges...it was not with children. It was a girl who was just a few years younger than him. My prayers are for the children, family, and friends that are involved.
