For nearly 10 years Tammy Kendricks’ family circle has grown stronger because they’ve only had each other to depend on.

This after the head of the household never came home one night.

Tammy Kendricks says, " I actually made a phone call to him. He didn't answer cause he always leave the sonic about 10:45. I called him. He didn't answer."

Kendrick’s boyfriend and father of her six children, Spencer Washington, died October 10th 2000.

East Carroll Sheriff’s deputies say the 31 year old was closing for the night at this Sonic Drive In in Lake Providence when Tyrone Bowman robbed and fatally shot Washington and fled the scene.

Tammy Kendricks says, "I wasn't right. I couldn't move back in this house for three months. My life will never be the same. I don't have bad kids, but had he been here it would be better."

Kendricks says she and the children thought the accused criminal was in jail but found out differently by watching the news.

Tammy Kendricks says, "When they let him go, I didn't know anything about it."

Daughter, Ambreanna Kendricks, says,"I guess I can sleep better."

All say it’s been tough without a father in the house but feel Washington would be proud to know tow of his daughters have graduated high school.

Ambreanna Kendricks says, " My graduation was just last week. I wished he were here to see me walk across the stage."

The boys are ball players, and the youngest child, who was only 10 months when her father died, learned everything about him through the memories of her brothers and sisters.

Ambreanna Kendricks says, 'I miss the family get togethers, us all out playing basketball and him playing with us."

But all say what will finally put them at rest is seeing Bowman stand trial for the case.

Tammy Kendricks says, "He didn't deserve to die the way he did."
