Some dads who got the day off are spending quality time on the grill at the park.
Today it’s all about dad—Grambling city leaders organized a big Fathers Day cook-off event at the Grambling Memorial Park this afternoon.
The dads cooked up an impressive spread of meat, from steaming hot baby-back ribs, chicken, and special sauce fresh from the pit are all on the menu, and ready for judging.
The cookout event is part of Grambling’s Juneteenth celebration. Fathers from all over Lincoln Parish brought their children and their appetites!
“I am the best one!” said Cecil Ferguson, who maintains that he’s the grill king. “This is my fourth consecutive year in the cookoff. Today I’m cooking ribs, chicken, beef tips, pork tenderloin. Usually by 12:30 all the churches break loose. They all come this way!”
Grambling has one of the longest Juneteenth celebrations in the state. The remembrance for the holiday lasts five days.
